Dear reader,
First of all I’ll tell you, that I’ve been taking classis in the period of 6 months, from October 2002 until April 2003. First two week’s very frequent, and after that once or twice a week for 3 hours, depending on my school schedule [I’ve been volunteering in Quito at the high school, teaching maths and physics]. I am now 29.
To be clear at the very first beginning, I was completely satisfied with Sintaxis. I learned a lot of grammar, enlarge my vocabulary enormous and got fluent in Spanish. After coming back home, in Utrecht, the Netherlands, I did a general knowledge test for Spanish course at Instituto Cervantes (including speaking, listening, reading and writing) and was qualified as an advanced student in Spanish, so I could continue only with the last group of lessons and some specialized courses as “ Español Coloquial” - Colloquial Spanish.
The classis I took at Sintaxis were of type “one to one” and were after a basic ones completely shaped to my needs. I asked to had all lessons in “ Spanish only”, as neither English nor German are my mother tongues (so I preferred to learn it that way), it went very well, as the teachers are real professionals, knowing very good what’s their job. I talked to other students too, they were form US, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands and heard that most of them preferred to have the new words translated to English (or German if possible), that wasn’t a problem either.
Further, as I have special interest in grammar [the languages are my great hobby], I asked for additional lessons in this area and enjoyed them a lot. One of the teachers prepared it for me.
I also enjoyed colorful topics on Ecuadorian history and culture, which are used as examples or for exercises in the textbooks.
I liked very much:
- That the teachers were always on time and always very prepared for the next lesson.
- The professional treatment I got.
- That al my homework was corrected very carefully every time.
- The classrooms were well equipped and noise free
There were special activities organized after the classes (free of charge) where Spanish was used and we’ve been corrected if we wanted so. [Most of us did].
I also know that there were excursions to other places in Ecuador (as Baños for example), unfortunately I was not able to join, because of my work. I heard from others that it was great there, as lessons were combined with tourist’s visits and fun.
While being in Quito and after coming back to Europe, I recommended Sintaxis to friends. I am very glad; I am able to recommend it even to the more persons this way.
Before taking classis at Sintaxis, I took a couple of dais one to one classis at two different schools in Antigua Guatemala, and one other in Quito. Once I find Sintaxis I stopped looking for better, as I think I found a perfect one!
And last but not least, the atmosphere at Sintaxis is extremely friendly, and the ambiance very pleasant.
Greetings, Dragana Okolic |
